The Unexpected Beauty of the Porn World

What’s one thing that surprised you about the porn industry?

Elle, 26, NYC

Hi Elle,

I absolutely love you for asking this question, because most people want to hear the deep, dark, dirty secrets which are so over-hyped and over-sensationalized in the media!

Probably the biggest surprise would be how lovely and considerate and sweet the male performers are. They are definitely some of the most respectful, gentle, kind-hearted people you’ll ever meet. They look out for the well-being of their female counterparts and maintain a level of chivalry that, at times, makes you believe that there are more nice guys in this world than you might realize. I think when you’re having sex on a regular basis with countless hot women (as adult stars do), when they’re talking to women outside of the business, their objective is less about getting in a girl’s pants and more about really connecting with them.

Secondly, another surprising aspect of adult would be just how much talent and brains exists in the business. When you pick up a mainstream publication, ‘porn people’ are almost always depicted as bimbos or idiots – but that’s not at all the people I interact with on a regular basis. In adult, like any industry, you’ll find fucked up, nasty, untalented people. However, you’ll also find highly intelligent, gifted, beautiful people who have strong moral fiber and ethics. Some stand-outs for me would be Steven St. Croix, Eddie Powell, India Summer, Penny Pax, and Remy LaCroix.

Thanks for asking!
