The Cold, Hard Reality Of The Porn Star Fluffer

I’ve heard you say that fluffers don’t exist, but I see posts to hire them online all the time and imagine the big studios with bigger stars do hire fluffers. What’s really going on?

Lenny, 32, CA

Hey Lenny,

I have never known a legitimate studio hiring fluffers – and I am wondering if the posts you are seeing online are scams more than anything. Typically, it is the talent’s responsibility to fluff one another. Sometimes, they do. Sometimes, they don’t. The real pros know that to keep the passion and the scene there, work needs to be done even when the cameras aren’t rolling. That’s not to say that all talent are messing around when the cameras aren’t rolling. It really comes down to personal preference. I’ve seen it work in both scenarios. Some people can jump into the heat of a scene immediately with little prep or foreplay with their co-star, while others like to enjoy some messing around before the scene starts to get in the mood. Sometimes, in-between takes and before ‘pop’ shots, female performers will keep the guy hard through oral or handjobs so that when the cameras are rolling, the male talent is close to cumming. Other times, all a male talent needs is Viagra. Really, paying a fluffer would be a waste of money and I’ve never heard of any studio actually hiring them.

Also, keep in mind that the adult industry does not make the money it used to in light of all the online piracy going on. I sincerely doubt that studios would add a ‘fluffer’ to their overall budget, especially when adult stars can do that themselves. Fluffers would also likely not get paid the same rate as the talent, but they still would have to pay for their STD tests. It just wouldn’t be financially lucrative any way you slice it.

Great question!
